Veterinary Acupuncture for Dogs & Cats in Suffolk

Improve Your Pet’s Comfort, Mobility and Wellbeing

Acupuncture is a gentle, evidence-based therapy that can reduce pain, improve mobility, and support recovery from injury or surgery. I offer appointments from my quiet, dedicated treatment room near Bury St Edmunds, or in the comfort of your own home for dogs and cats across Suffolk, making each session calm, stress-free, and tailored to your pet’s needs.

Acupuncture is safe when performed by a trained veterinary surgeon and can be used alongside medication, physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, or other treatments.

How Acupuncture Can Help Your Dog or Cat

Acupuncture may benefit pets with:

 -  Chronic pain (arthritis, hip/elbow

     dysplasia, spinal discomfort)
-  Muscle tension or stiffness
-  Neurological conditions (as part of a

     veterinary treatment plan)
-  Recovery from injury or surgery
-  Age-related aches and

     reduced comfort
-  General well-being support

Unsure if acupuncture is right for your pet? Contact me for a discussion about your pet’s needs.

What to Expect at Your Appointment

Initial Consultation: I review your pet’s medical history and assess their comfort and mobility.

Treatment: Fine, sterile needles are placed at specific acupuncture points. Most pets tolerate this very well and often relax deeply during treatment.

Duration: Sessions usually last 30–45 minutes.

Treatment Plan: Many pets show improvement after several sessions. I will recommend ongoing support if your pet has a chronic condition.

Referral Required

All acupuncture patients must be treated under veterinary referral for safety.

If you contact me directly, I will send a short referral form to your usual vet so they can share medical history and confirm suitability.

Most vets are happy to refer — it takes just a few minutes and ensures coordinated care.

Dr Emma Pyke is a veterinarian with training in veterinary acupuncture through the Association of British Veterinary Acupuncturists (ABVA). She is a registered ABVA member, ensuring treatments meet recognised professional standards.
